Water Features
Bringing the sights and sounds of water into your outdoor space is truly an oasis in our desert climate.
A few things to consider with water features
1. A water feature needs to look natural. We have seen many well-built water features that were not installed in the correct area and just seem unnatural. A big wall of rock with water gushing out looks out of place. The setting, backdrop, and surrounding plant life should invite water flowing out of a natural environment.
2. Consider where your audience is in compared to where your water feature is placed. You need to be able to see and hear your water feature. Don’t hide it in the corner!
3. Maintenance: Do you have the time to clean a pond regularly? If not, consider having your water disappear in the ground through a bubbler or dry stream bed.
4. Cost: A large water feature can cost much more than a bubbler. If it’s just the sight and sound of water that you desire, a bubbler may be the answer for you.
5. Outdoor lighting: When installing a water feature, you may want to budget lighting for those summer evenings outdoors.
